Off the DL

I've been doing some major slacking in the sports column of my blogs. I got nothing to say. Waiting patiently for college football, can't figure why Gerald Green, high school phenom from Houston, was projected so high but went so late, what happened to Michelle Wie, and how great was Texas baseball, how bout them Nationals, saw a game this weekend, saw RFK and looked for Hogs, Joe Gibbs, and Art Monk, Moe Thompson is done, I'm thinking of starting Yoga and teaching myself, I guess Yoga isn't a sport its a lifestyle like being vegan.

Things I can't wait to see, USC with Spurrier, British Open, Maria Sharapova hoisting a platter, Texas at Ohio St., FSU and Miami, my first cold beer Thursday Sept 1st in Columbia, how quickly Andrew Bogut is compared to Luc Longley outside of this post, me doing yoga.

Wasted Days and Wasted Nights

Wow! was my only phrase during Michael Campbell's transcendendent win on Sunday. Never had a man qualified from outside USA, as this was the first year for non-US qualifying. Michael Campbell is virtually more unknown, than previous US Open winner Steve Jones and PGA Champ Shawn Micheel.

I was also freaked out by the reaction to a Formula 1 race where only six cars hit the track. Michelin tire users protested for safety reasons, and it caused near riot conditions.

We aren't far from good old college football. I am pushing a piece of legislation to have two college football seasons. One in March through June, and the next September through January. This gives all the kids time to go to school and me time to relax. I'm one of those people that can't sleep very well the nights before games. And really wear losses heavily. I'm a Gamecock it's in my blood. But the feeling of a win is so great I'm ready to risk certain stess levels twice a year.

While I'm hitting you up on football, I'm thinking I've got to get back to Fantasy Football, I missed it last year and would've had a good year. I always take Peyton when I can if not Daunte Culpepper. Both had MVP seasons. This year I've got some good insight to some secondary picks....maybe I can give you all a good fantasy preview to go with your college and pro football spectacular.

Guess I better get to work....

Downtown Athletic Club

Heisman talk usually pisses me off when it comes pre-Halloween, but this years race should be really really really good. I figure there are ten known candidates, many underclassmen, and some seniors.

1. Matt Leinhart
2. Adrian Peterson
3. Reggie Bush
4. Chris Leak
5. Vince Young
6. Michael Hart
7. Ted Ginn Jr.
8. Charlie Whitehurst (call me crazy but he could put up some good numbers)
9. DeAngelo Williams
10. Jared Zabransky

Sure I had the help of a current college football preview, but late last year expecting Leinhart to go pro I predicted the next two Heisman winners to be Bush and Ginn Jr. Well then V. Young went and destroyed the Wolverines in the Rose Bowl. (by the way that was the best football game I ever saw, and I think we will look back in a few years and remember how huge that game was and really how well played)

More to come, look for Tiger this week but watch out for Stew Cink, Dave Toms, and Chris DiMarco, I'm pretty sure its gonna be an American or a caublinasian American.

Thanks Ray, glad to see your gettin' paid.

Worth The Price of Admission

Things and people I'd Pay to See Vol. 1

Michelle Wie playing golf would be better than watching Jack Nicholas. That's a bold and moderately untrue statement. But I'd rather see her play than watch him struggle. Wie is contending for second place in a major, her second Top Five in the two majors this year. I can't wait for her to hit her peak. In five years the LPGA is going to be really, really good.

Another two people that would be on the list, Tony Stewart, and Jeff Gordon. Only if Tony pounds Jeff into the wall. Go #20!!

Goodbye Heart

Sportsfans,

I've been watching two dozen tons of softball playoffs, really good stuff. I just can't understand why no one watches this stuff. I love sports for competition and passion. Women's College World Series is the definition of passion, competition and pressure. Yesterday and Saturday I probably watched a total of seven games. I really fell in love with Texas' team, probably because they have the best player in college ball, and the sexiest. I can't deny I was watching for the sex appeal, but I really would have watched if they weren't hot. Cat Osterman though, the best pitcher in softball was so much fun to watch. She threw nearly 220 pitches Sunday, after pitching Sat afternoon. This is a pretty common occurance in softball as it doesn't tax their arms as much as the legs. (I didn't know that until this weekend).

The other reason, Megan Willis a good player in her own right, is the hottest thing on the diamond since Jenny Finch. Very pretty, good athlete and the team's cheerleader, which might have been my favorite part, watching these girls do the baseball chants...girly style.

Too bad Texas was eliminated yesterday, I haven't a team too root for, well until the game starts.

Read This

Wojo is a good reporter, I didn't know he had a sense of humor.

Baseball and Softball playoffs have me grounded to the couch.
